tenure, tenure, tenure, i made you out clay!

it never ends people. it never ends. after a really great time in chicago, i got plunged back into "reality." or rather, work. i woke up this morning at 6 a.m. and it wasn't pretty. couldn't fall back asleep so i was up at 6:45 which was good since (freak that i am) i made the executive decision to get into work early but yea, i'm tired now and giving myself a break that i probably don't deserve. having one day off in the cruel, cruel month of april is really going to haunt me. but after tomorrow, ahem, i will be not so creeped out by being busy. of course, that only lasts til friday, but i'll take it. my supervisor's out of town this week (meet me in cancun!!!) and the dean will be out on wed. and thursday (do you want JEANS with that order?). speaking of, i've now bulked up my The Dog toys from mcdonalds. i now have the black labrador, the beagle and the german shepard. their names are darkie, douchie and dummy, respectively. i want the pug. if i can get the labrador retriever and the pug, i may feel like i've accomplished something. what? oh! check these out:

the Ultimate 81s, blue/yellow combo. don't be jealous. i can't help it if i'm totally on the cutting edge here people. here's the lowdown on chicago: me and rootz left the 314 around 11:30 (after getting happy meal #2), got to the 312/773 in good time, met up with my peeps where we were staying and hung out for a spell and ogled their baby girl (hey chuck!), then we went out to dinner at this place called buca de beppo for some italian tapas-style action. good times. 2 more peeps met us and we headed over to our friends' apartment for a little "night cap" action. saturday was "adventure day." we took Chippy to park somewhere in some elusive pleasedon'tticketme spot, walked to the train station, took that sucka down to the Magnificent Mile and did a little light shopping. oh, and on saturday, we did what i've now dubbed "the driving tour." before dinner rezzies, we decided to bust out and try a little walking around, turns out, the baby went to sleep in the car, dad was tired, and there was no parking so we just kind of drove around. the point of all of this is that 2 days in a row, we went to my fave shoe place in chicago: the belmont surplus store, or something. those badasses above were purchased there, fyi. but not on friday. so, back to saturday, went to some shops down there, got a mother's day present for none other than my moms, went and looked at some ish at urban outfitters, saw the cutest little "drumline" featuring all these little boys playing on tops of those tall white paint containers (or maybe people put sand in them? or whatever?). they were totally cute and i gave them some $. apparently, they play all the time down there. even on school days. maybe they'll use the few bucks i gave them towards some independent learning? or weed. but the kick of all kickers was this guy who put down a boombox, propped up his sign "Grad Student Disco," hit "play" on the recorder, michael jackson's "wanna be startin somethin" cues up and that little guy who looked he had peed his pants before getting to his hotspot, started doing the best dance moves ever. it was awesome. that's $6 right there! that was my favorite part of the day, fyi. and then we went back to the belmont area to look for shoes (i was victorious) and to go to some other stores. all in all a good time. no ticket was put on my windshield either. i won. that night had some home cooking in the form of some tasty ass salmon all seasoned and shit and ginger was involved.......and some good ass veggies too. then we got in the car with hubby (look, they live way up north, give us a break) and went to all kinds of bars whose names i barely remember. the something or other lounge, rainbo (that's my "favorite" chicago spot), some place with the word "sub" involved and 2 more places i can't remember either. and it's not cause i was wasted (and i was), it's because i'm a total moron who can't recall what she did 5 minutes ago. wait. the short term is in full effect, the long term has questionable moments. and on sunday we got some home cooking in the form of some kind of breakfast pizza (delightful!) and then hit the road to hit some hard hitting traffic around 2ish. got home in time for 24 though. whoa! whoa! whoa!

and here we are. right. i need to finish up my day o' work and feel like stuff happened. i kid! all kinds of stuff has been happened. no "t's" were crossed the whole way through, but we're almost there, we're almost there.

livin' on a prayer.
